CrossFit 17.3: My Least Favorite
I hate overhead squats. Add a snatch and I am so over it.
This WOD was anything but easy for me. The chest to bars were my favorite part. I was so pissed at the squat snatches that it made my chest to bars GREAT! I actually think I was flying. At one point I thought 'you're going to fly over the bar'. Seriously. The squat snatch? Not so much. I was cursing thru the whole workout. At one point I just gave the bar a middle finger. But I sucked it up and got thru it.
That's the beauty of the open. It humbles you and keeps you in check. There will be workouts you are great at and then there are those (like this one) that you suck at. I did my best. I worked on my snatches the night before. I warmed up and did the best that I could. It is what it is. I will say thanks to my friend Sam my snatch technique is a lot better. I even took a video of him doing the snatch as a tutorial. And you better believe I watched it over and over before it was my turn. It definitely helped.
Moving forward I've told myself I will practice the squat snatch on a weekly basis and get more comfortable getting under the bar. That's what I tell myself. Will I do it? We shall see.
